Deaton Yacht Services offers professional repair and maintenance of the structure, systems and the finish of your boat-- from stem to stern.


Fiberglass and Gelcoat.
Deaton Yacht Service, Inc. has trained professional structural fiberglass and gelcoat personnel. Our technicians are factory trained and have the talent to fabricate parts or repair your boat. With in house skilled professionals specializing in storm damage repairs, we can rebuild your boat to its previous strength and cosmetic appearance. We offer fee consulting and moisture tests on fiberglass surfaces. We also provide complete blister and bottom relamination service.


Machine Shop.
Deaton Yacht Service, Inc. has a machine shop and a knowledgeable team that are capable of fabricating products from stainless steel and aluminum. We can repair damaged rails, stanchions, bow pulpits or just about anything found on your boat.
 


Mechanical.
John Deaton supervises a staff of four full time professional mechanics. Under John's supervision the mechanic department at Deaton Yacht Service, Inc. is known throughout the East coast as the premier facility for marine repairs. Our mechanics are factory trained and authorized for Yanmar, Panda generators, Northern Lights generators, Universal and Westerbeke engines. Our mechanics also specialize in batteries, refrigeration systems, air conditioning, Edson steering systems and inverters.

Our services include engine surveys, repowering, a diagnosis of a wide range of problems.

John also holds an annual one day engine school to better educate our customers with questions and concerns about diesel engines. Class size is limited to allow more individual attention , with all aspects of engine systems, for information on attending please call 252-249-1180.


Carpentry.
Deaton Yacht Service, Inc. has a complete carpentry shop and the ability to fabricate or repair anything. We can fabricate rubrails, bow pulpits, shelves, bulkheads, cabins soles, cabinets, or any special design need you desire. We use only the finest plywood, teak and mahogany. We work closely with our customers to insure they receive exactly what they want.
 



Rigging.
From rigging surveys to a complete replacement, our rigging shop can handle your needs. Our in house swaging machine allows up to custom fabricate standing rigging, running rigging and lifelines on site. We can fabricate custom hardware using stainless steel or aluminum, in our machine shop. Your rigging needs can be completed either with the mast in place, or we have extensive experience unstopping your mast.

Varnish & Painting.
Working with today's new paint and varnish products takes skill and knowledge. Our abilities to spray, brush or roll paint will make your boat look new again.

We offer a variety of different varnishes, such Cetol, Interlux and Honey Teak, to get the finish you desire.

We also do hull painting with Awlgrip.

 


Electronics.
Our electricians can provide consultations to discuss today's electronics, and what might be right for your boating needs. We can customize your installation by recessing components or locating them at the pedestal.

Some of the equipment we install are autopilots, radars, stereos, GPS, chartplotters, SSB, VHF radios, knotmeters, depth meters, and apparent wind indicators. We can also tie the instruments together for the ultimate in navigation control.

We have experience in installing all the major manufactures like Autohelm, Raymarine, B&G, Standard Horizon, and Icom.


Insurance Repairs.
We work closely with a number of insurance companies and their adjustors. If your boat was damaged in a hurricane, a bad storm, lighting strike, or if you had a boating accident. We are fully equipped to do any and all repairs necessary to get you back on the water and enjoying your boat.


TowBoat/US.
We are a VIT tower of the TOWBOAT/US program, and offer towing, on water parts delivery, light groundings, and salvage work. Our two towboats operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The towboat captains can be reached many different ways either on VHF channel 16, by calling Deaton Yacht Service at 252-249-1180 during business hours, by pager 252-634-1142, or by calling TOWBOAT/US dispatch at 1-800-391-4TOW (4869).

Our two towing vessels are the Shamrock 21, and the Captain Ralph, an Atlantic 28.
Both vessels are fully equipped with everything to tow and/or unground your vessel.

1.) Hwy. 70 traveling East or Hwy. 17 traveling South to New Bern - take Hwy. 55 at new bridge over the River Neuse all the way to Oriental.
2.) Once in Oriental, turn left (at Sail/Loft Realty) onto Ragan Road.
3.) Follow Ragan Road 3 blocks to Link Drive and turn left.
4.) Follow Link Drive to the T- intersection with Neuse Drive.
5.) See Deaton Yacht Brokerage on the right, boatyard a few yards further on the left.
